On September 28 and 29, 2001 the men of the University of Maine ASTP unit held a reunion for their number at the University of Maine in Orono (near Bangor).  34 men, and 28 wives and daughters, attended the event – with participants coming from as far away as South Carolina and California.

The University of Maine held a special luncheon for the ASTP group, and gave them tickets to the football game. The school also organized a memorial service for the ASTPers, with music provided by the Maine National Guard Band. The ASTP group then presented a plaque to the University with the names of the “student soldiers” who died in the service of their country. The ceremony was sad, but all those who attended had a wonderful time.

The members of the ASTP/University of Maine Reunion Committee were John Forest, Jim Drake, Hugh Macaulay, Pat O’Donnell and Dick Glidden. Dick has 107 addresses and 26 e-mail addresses for the men in the unit.
